TICKETS FOR CARNIVAL PARADE
Tickets to the Sambadrome during the Rio de Janeiro Carnival parade offer a variety of viewing options, catering to different preferences and budgets. The Sambadrome, or Sambódromo, is divided into several sections, each providing a unique experience of the parade. Here’s an overview of the main ticket types available:
Generally, the most affordable option. These are concrete steps where seats are not numbered (except for Sector 9). It’s like sitting in bleachers at a sports events. Offers a panoramic view of the parade, allowing spectators to see the floats and performers as they pass by.
Having the seats not numbered can be a big disadvantage to consider when opting for this type of seating. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. this can lead to the need to arrive very early to secure a good spot, and it can be inconvenient if you leave your seat and try to return to it later. Exception to this rule is sector 9, known as the tourist sector because it offers numbered seating, which means guaranteed space and a slightly more controlled environment compared to other grandstand sections. Sector 09 is the only sector we recommend for Grandstands seating.
Here’s a breakdown of the differences between the sectors for grandstands
Frisas (Small, open-air boxes) seating offers a closer and more intimate experience of the event. Located along the parade route it offers some of the closest views of the parade. They are at street level, which means you are very close to the performers and floats. Being closer to the action also means that you can feel the rhythm of the drums and experience the excitement and energy of the parade more directly.
Each Frisa box typically accommodates 6 people, allowing a small group to enjoy the parade together. It offers 4 levels: A, B, C and D, being A closer to the parade runway and so on. (Level A is much more expensive than level B, C and D and can only be purchased on the black market).
Frisas offer a more comfortable seating option compared to the grandstands because you have an actual chair and more space to move around.
Here’s a breakdown of the differences between the sectors for frisas:
9 and 11 are considered the best sectors to be.
Enclosed private boxes that are located above the frisas. Capacity varies depending on the size of the camarote, with some accommodating large groups.
It offers elevated and comprehensive views of the whole parade area.
These are the most luxurious option, often including catering, air conditioning, and sometimes even celebrity sightings. Ideal for those seeking comfort and an exclusive experience.
WHAT TYPE OF TICKET SHOULD MY CLIENT CHOOSE
Choosing the right type of seating depends on your preferences for comfort, proximity to the parade, overall experience and of course budget:
Frisa seating is ideal for those who want to be close to the parade action, feeling the energy and seeing details up close. This is our preferred seating !!
Camarote seating is best for those seeking a luxury experience with all-inclusive amenities and a comfortable environment to enjoy the spectacle. The only thing is that depending on the size of the camarote and the number of people there, it might get too crowded to find a comfortable space to watch the parade.
Grandstand seating is suited for those on a budget or first-time visitors who want an overview of the event and don’t mind a less comfortable, more communal atmosphere.
Availability: Tickets go on sale months in advance and can sell out quickly, especially for the most popular sectors and the final nights of the parade.
Price Range: Varies significantly from basic grandstand seats to luxury suites. Prices also vary depending on the night of Carnival and the location within the Sambadrome.
Where to Buy: Here at Bumar, we try as much as possible to secure tickets from the official ticket vendors to guarantee best prices. Unfortunately we can never anticipate how many tickets we will get, so often we must go to the black market to guarantee all clients get the tickets they want. The rates we publish initially for carnival tickets are valid only while we have tickets bought from the official vendors. Once we start buying tickets from vendors in the black market, prices will change.
